It was 2010, when mahindra launched its 1st generation 2 door suv in market with the name mahindra thar.
The first generation Mahindra Thar was powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine that produced 105 horsepower and 247 Nm of torque.
The vehicle was available in two trim levels: the DI 2WD and the DI 4WD. The DI 2WD was a basic version that came with a soft top and no air conditioning, while the DI 4WD came with air conditioning and a hardtop.
In 2015, Mahindra introduced an updated version of the Thar called the Thar CRDe. The CRDe stood for “common rail diesel engine,” which was a more advanced engine that produced 105 horsepower and 247 Nm of torque.
The Thar CRDe also had updated safety features, such as airbags and ABS, and was available in two trim levels: the CRDe 4WD and the CRDe 4WD AC.

After producing most beloved off-road oriented suv, mahindra brought next generation to give tough competition to its rival Gymny, force Gurkha.
This time there was a huge update in bodyshells which was going to add 2 more doors and a longer wheelbase.
Mahindra brought a new design but it again resembles to Jeep Rubicon which is again a premium off-road SUV with more powerful engine options.
On the other side, thar roxx is using same engine with slightly increased power from its 4 cylinder diesel and petrol option.

Exterior
The first thing we notice in new thar roxx is it’s dual tone body which has black sturdy roof with more 6 colour paint options in rest of metal body frame.
Another big change it given to its headlight assembly where thar comes with c shaped led day running lights in white colour shed, main headlight unit is kept same round as it was in its previous generation but equipped with led lights.
Stop lights or taillamp is same square shaped with led unit to give bright signals for following traffic.
Another big change in its outer body can be seen from front where thar got new grill design with bigger and broad shape to pass the more intake air to keep engine cool and more air supply for turbocharged diesel engine for tremendous power to its wheel.
Wheel are now upgraded to 19 inches for extra ground clearance and equipped now with tire pressure monitoring system to add more valuable features in the SUV.
Interior
Talking about seats in thar roxx, it was launched only with one clour option ivory white option in premium leather seats. It was criticized by media and the buyers to get dirty in no time as thar is off-road vehicle where it has to be in such condition where interior gets dirty very quickly.
So now thar roxx comes with one more interior option and that is mocha brown leather seats.
The another thing where mahindra worked on, is its infotainment system and meter console. Now thar roxx comes with 10 inches infotainment semi touch screen where there is still option to operate this manually by keyboard and meter console is full led.
Mahindra claims on their website to work on NVH to make people’s experience more calm and dumping outer noise.
Roxx provided more loved feature by Indian that is its panoramic sunroof which gives wide view from first to last row when it is opened.
Engine
Thar Roxx comes in petrol and diesel engine options and there are 6 different variants to choose from base to top model.
Rear wheel drive are available in mx, m3, ax3l variants and 4 wheel drive comes in mx5, ax5l, ax7l.
Ax3l comes only in diesel manual option and ax5l in diesel automatic transmission
And rest of 4 comes in both diesel and petrol options.
